The Halloween Tag

Finally posting this on November 1st because obviously, every day is Halloween. Thanks to Sary and The Mutant Stomp Friends for tagging me, make sure to check out both of their blogs.

Favourite Halloween Song?
The entirety of Aurelio Voltaire's Ooky Spooky album is extremely appropriate for Halloween if you don't mind some silliness. If you're looking for actual creepy tunes, Nox Arcana has a nearly inexhaustible arsenal.

Witch or Vampire?
Ever since I was little I have adored anything even remotely related to the undead and I read any vampire literature I could get my greedy little claws on. At six years old, I wrote my first story which was titled 'Dracula is in love'. However, over the course of the past couple of years I have grown increasingly more fond of the witchy look. Vampires will always have a special place in my heart (and on my shelf) but their classic look may just be slightly outdated, or at least not very appropriate for everyday wear.

Favourite Thing about Halloween?
Pumpkins everywhere, spooky decorations, Halloween collections in mainstream stores, creepy makeup, the fact that suddenly I'm no longer the only one interested in all things dark and spooky, and the Skeleton War (never forget).
Now that Halloween is over, there is only the void. And this party to look forward to.

Halloween Party or Scary Movie Marathon?
Movie marathon first, party after. No matter how much I enjoy just staying home and watching films with friends, nothing quite beats taking your Halloween costume outside and showing it to the nightlife.

Skeletons or Zombies?
Not overly fond of either although I have to admit that zombies get an unfair advantage since Hollywood seems to like them so much. Somebody needs to give those poor, underrated skeletons a TV show. Make it happen, HBO.

Favourite Halloween Candy?
There's a serious lack of Halloween candy in Belgium so I usually bake my own but we do have the awesomeness that is vampire teeth. Best candy ever.

Favourite Halloween Movie?
Lately, I've been inclined to blurt out 'Crimson Peak' at any mention of films. However, I'll have to remind myself there's more to life than Tom Hiddleston playing a Byronic hero so other favourites would be Hocus Pocus, Sweeney Todd, and Sleepy Hollow.

Favourite Halloween Costume?
During the past few weeks I've changed my mind on 'Halloween costume of the year' at least twice a day. Since choosing a single costume is impossible I'd have to say, something original, well made and above all, creepy.

Favourite Halloween Store?
Sadly, there are no Halloween stores in Belgium. I do love regular stores suddenly selling spooky stock (that alliteration though). Asos' Halloween items are my favourite, half of my wardrobe consists of their October collection.

Jack-o-Lanterns, Yes or No?
Pretty to look at but I'm a lazy fuck with two left hands. So yes, if someone else carves them.

Bats or Black Cats?
Both! Although if I had to choose between bats in general and my own black cat, I'd pick her, obviously.

Is Halloween Your Favourite Holiday?
Yes, despite the fact that I feel underwhelmed and disappointed every year. Halloween is not widely celebrated in Belgium (even though it is on the rise) so if I do want to celebrate it, I have to arrange something myself. As much fun as horror films and Halloween themed snacks are, I'm desperate for an actual Halloween party with dressed-up people and spooky music.

Pumpkin Spice Latte or Hot Chocolate?
Pumpkin spice latte wins but only barely. Hot chocolate needs whipped cream and/or marshmellows, though.

Some Halloween reading material - Crimson Peak has made me hungry for gothic fiction again.
So, how did everyone celebrate Halloween? I tested some SFX makeup and watched horror films on the 30th and went to see Chelsea Wolfe on the 31st. Currently I'm in my natural habitat, catching up on TV series and moping because Halloween is over. Woe is me.
